Two held in blackmailing cases
LAHORE:
Two suspects were arrested by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) over allegations of cyber blackmail, online harassment and digital extortion. In a case registered in Lahore, Haroon Qureshi was arrested for allegedly sending a woman's private photographs and videos to her husband to harass her, damage her reputation and disrupt her family life. Investigators said digital forensic evidence led to the arrest and a mobile phone was seized from the suspect. The case was registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, as amended in 2025, and an investigation was under way. NCCIA Faisalabad arrested Muhammad Anwar during a raid in Abbottabad in connection with an FIR. According to investigators, the suspect allegedly posed as a woman on social media, befriended victims, convinced them to share private photographs and sensitive information, and then blackmailed them for money. A victim had allegedly paid Rs40,000, but the suspect continued demanding more money.
