MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th May, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) intensified its action against food adulteration in Vehari, sealing two food production units,disposing of substandard products and registering an FIR against a khoya unit owner,officials said on Sunday.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Director Operations South-II Rameez Zafar on the directives of PFA Director General(DG),Syed Musa Raza.
According to a PFA spokesperson,food safety teams inspected khoya and ice cream production units in Mouza Akbar Shah and 97/WB areas of Vehari.
During the inspection,officials found the use of substandard and adulterated ingredients in the preparation of khoya.
The team disposed of 25 kilograms of adulterated khoya on the spot and registered an FIR against the unit owner, while one person was taken into custody and handed over to police.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>In a separate action,an ice cream production unit was ordered to shut down until further improvement after inspectors detected the use of unhygienic water in food preparation.
The spokesperson said the units were also operating without mandatory product registration, proper labeling and valid medical certificates.
PFA Director General(DG),Syed Musa Raza said ensuring the provision of safe and quality food to the public remained the authority’s top priority.
He added that strict and indiscriminate action against food adulteration would continue across Punjab to eliminate what he termed the adulteration mafia.
