LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) The two-day 'Leadership Development Programme-II; Lead with Vision, Manage with Impact' successfully concluded here at Executive Development Institute (EDI) of the National School of Public Policy (NSPP) on Thursday.
The EDI arranged the vent for senior officials and decision-makers from the public and private sectors. A diverse group of participants attended from across the country, including civil officers from both federal and provincial governments, in addition to private sector executives including academia. Key representatives from prominent ministries and departments comprised the Senate of Pakistan, National Assembly of Pakistan, Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Provincial Assembly of Punjab, Prime Minister Youth Programme, University of the Punjab, University of Mianwali, Riphah International University, Indus Hospital, National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) and NSPP, Lahore.
Dr. Naveed Elahi, Dean EDI, in his opening remarks, highlighted that Leadership Development Programme is designed to strengthen professional leadership skills and promote excellence in public service. Covering team dynamics, leadership styles, emotional intelligence, motivation, diversity and innovation, the program fosters learning through interaction and exchange.
Afterwards, Kamran Ahmad, Director EDI, presented a comprehensive overview of the Institute’s performance and strategic goals. He emphasized that EDI’s planning process ensures the careful selection of experts from professional, academic and training domains to provide a holistic and integrated perspective on emerging issues. He also highlighted the success of previous programs, noting the diverse participation of officers from across the country.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The eminent guest speakers of the first-day: Dr. Muhammad Amjad Saqib, Chairman of Akhuwat, delivered lecture on “Essence of Leadership”, Dr. Naveed Elahi, Dean, EDI/NIPP, shared insights on “Know Thyself”, Dr. Ishrat Hussain, Economist/former Advisor to the Prime Minister & Governor SBP, delivered an enlighting session on “Effective Leadership and Strategic Management”, Kamran Lashari, former Chief Secretary & Ex-Chairman CDA/former DG of Walled City of Lahore Authority, led an engaging session on “Leadership and Innovation in the Public Sector”, Prof. Dr. Saad B. Malik, Consultant Psychiatrist / Specialist in Mental Health & Psychiatric Disorder, shared practical skills in his captivating professional style an insightful session on “Communication & Emotional Intelligence”.
The second-day’s dpeakers included: Shoaib Mir, former Chief Secretary Baluchistan, Dr. Rizwan Basharat, Specialist in Intellectual Property Law / Expert in Patents, Trademarks & Innovation Management, , Shoaib Dastgir, former IG Punjab and Zafar Masud, from Bank of Punjab. They covered topics on “Leadership Styles”, “AI and Emerging Technologies for Leaders”, “Ethics Leadership & Service Delivery”, and “Exemplary Leadership through Vision, Integrity & Sacrifice”, respectively.
Concluding the programme, Dr. Naveed Elahi, Dean EDI, thanked the participants for their engagement and highlighted the valuable insights gained during the two-day training programme. He encouraged them to foster inclusive teams and lead with integrity in advancing national development. Certificates were also presented in recognition of their participation and commitment to learning.
