Turkish consul general visits SCCI to boost trade ties

SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Lahore Mehmet Eymen SIMSEK, along with Commercial Attaché Nurettin DEMIR, visited Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here on Wednesday and discussed issues of mutual interest pertaining to enhancing bilateral trade between the two countries.

SCCI President Syed Ahtesham Mazhar and Vice President (VP) Salman Sheikh warmly welcomed the guests.

During a meeting, the SCCI president said that the deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and Türkiye, founded on shared religious, cultural, and strategic values, have withstood the test of time.

The SCCI president said that it is most heartening to note that both countries have agreed to further deepen engagement through institutional mechanisms, expand economic partnership, and enhance connectivity at the 7th Session of the Pakistan-Türkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC), held on February 13, 2025.

Mazhar added that Sialkot had developed a dynamic Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) ecosystem, which was highly conducive to joint ventures and collaborative partnerships.

"Our exporters possess a deep understanding of international standards and compliance requirements, contributing to an annual export volume exceeding US$2.63 billion.

Beyond industrial achievements, the business community of Sialkot has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility. Landmark initiatives such as the Sialkot International Airport, Sialkot Dryport Trust, Sialkot Export Processing Zone, Sialkot Business & Commerce Centre, AirSial, and Sialkot Medical City stand as testament to our collective vision for sustainable economic and social development, he further added.

The consul general said that historic relations exist between Pakistan and Türkiye. He stressed the need for making mutual efforts to further boost the bilateral trade ties. He invited the Sialkot exporters to diversify their product line mentioning that most innovative goods are produced in Sialkot. He assured to make all out sincere efforts from Turkey to increase the mutual trade volume between Turkey and Pakistan as well.
