Tree plantation drive starts in BBMU

LARKANA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Mar, 2026) The Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) Larkana, Professor Dr. Nusrat Shah, inaugurated a tree plantation campaign at Chandka Medical College Larkana to mark the arrival of spring on Tuesday.

The initiative aimed to promote environmental protection, encourage plantation, and create awareness among students about the importance of a greener and healthier environment.

On the occasion, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nusrat Shah planted various indigenous and fruit trees and said that plantation not only enhances the beauty of the environment but also helped ensure a clean and healthy atmosphere for human life. She emphasized that promoting plantation within educational institutions is the need of the hour and urged everyone to play their role in this national responsibility.

Dean Surgery and Allied Professor Dr. Shahida Magsi stated that tree plantation is an essential step towards environmental protection and building a healthy society.

She added that such initiatives contribute significantly to providing a clean and green environment for future generations.

Principal Chandka Medical College Larkana Professor Dr. Shahid Hussain Soomro said that plantation not only makes the environment greener and more beautiful but also has positive effects on human health. He noted that as a medical institution, it is their responsibility to support such initiatives and promote awareness about environmental protection among students.

Vice Principal Dr. Fouzia Chandio, Head of Community Medicine Professor Saeed Ahmed Shaikh, Head of Biochemistry Professor Ghulam Sarwar Shaikh, Director ORIC Dr. Mir Hassan Khoso,I.T Director Waheed Zaman, Abdul Samad Bhatti University spokesperson and Security In-charge Kamran Abbasi also participated in the plantation drive.

The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the peace and prosperity of the country, the progress of the institution, and environmental sustainability.
