Tree plantation drive held at Liaquat Bagh to promote environmental awareness

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Apr, 2026) A tree plantation campaign was organised at Liaquat Bagh in collaboration with the Horticulture Agency of Rawalpindi (HAR) and the Public Service Department of the Central Muslim League, with officials and volunteers planting saplings and raising awareness about environmental protection.

Additional Managing Director, Horticulture Agency Rawalpindi, Fazail Mudassar, Director Horticulture Sheikh Tariq and other officials attended the ceremony. Chairman of the Public Service Department of the Central Muslim League, Chaudhry Shafiqur-ur-Rehman Warraich, was present as the chief guest.

Participants, including representatives of both organisations, took part in the plantation drive by planting various types of saplings.

Addressing the event, Mudassar said the HAR had launched a tree plantation campaign across the city and appreciated the participation of the Public Service Department.

He described tree planting as an ongoing charity and said it had become an urgent necessity to combat environmental pollution.

He said a green and lush Pakistan was essential for a healthy society and urged citizens to play their role, adding that the plantation drive would be expanded further.

Director of Horticulture Sheikh Tariq said sustained plantation efforts were vital for improving the city’s environment and aesthetics. He urged residents to plant more trees in their homes and neighbourhoods and ensure their proper care.

At the end of the ceremony, representatives of the Central Muslim League appreciated the agency’s efforts. Participants jointly planted saplings, reaffirmed their commitment to promoting greenery in the country, and offered a special prayer.
