Transport minister takes notice of overcharging of passengers

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) Provincial Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan carried out a surprise inspection of Lorry Adda and City Bus Stand where he directly engaging with the passengers and transporters while vowing strict enforcement of officially notified fares ahead of Eidul Fitr.

Accompanied by the Additional Deputy Commissioner General, Assistant Commissioners, Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA), and Administrator Lorry Adda, the transport minister reviewed fare lists displayed at various terminals and checked their implementation on ground.

He issued clear directives to transporters to refrain from overcharging and said that any violation of prescribed fares would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

During visit, the minister interacted with the passengers, listened to their complaints regarding fare overcharging and assured immediate redress.

He directed the transport authorities to take prompt action against the violators and ordered that fare charts should be displayed at conspicuous places at all bus stands to ensure transparency and public awareness.

Bilal Akbar Khan emphasized that strict monitoring mechanisms must be put in place to provide maximum relief to commuters especially in view of the increased travel demand during Eidul Fitr.

He said that provision of safe, affordable and quality transport facilities to citizens is top priority of the government and negligence or laxity in this regard would not be tolerated.

On the occasion, the minister also led a smog awareness walk, urging citizens to adopt preventive measures and contribute towards a cleaner environment.

Highlighting the importance of environmental protection, he planted a sapling within the premises of Lorry Adda and encouraged the public to actively participate in tree plantation campaigns, terming it a pressing need of the time.
