The Rawalpindi City Traffic Police have intensified action against vehicles using ‘applied for’ or without number plates and those fitted with tinted windows across the district

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2026) The Rawalpindi City Traffic Police have intensified action against vehicles using ‘applied for’ or without number plates and those fitted with tinted windows across the district.

According to a traffic police spokesman on Thursday, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam has issued directions for strict enforcement against such violations to ensure compliance with traffic laws and protect the life and property of citizens.

Special checking pickets have been set up across the district to monitor vehicles and take action against violators, he said.

The spokesman added that during the current month, traffic police issued 463 challans to vehicles using ‘applied for’ or without number plates, while 40 challans were issued for the use of tinted windows.

CTO Farhan Aslam, in his directive, said action against vehicles without number plates and those using tinted windows aimed at ensuring strict implementation of traffic laws and enhancing public safety.

He said number plates served as the identity of vehicles and motorcycles, adding that hiding or tampering with them was a punishable offence under the law, while the use of tinted windows in vehicles was prohibited.

The CTO urged citizens to comply with traffic regulations and ensure timely registration of their vehicles and motorcycles while using number plates as per the prescribed design to avoid legal action.
