LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Raheem Sherazi has announced major relief measures for vehicles transporting sacrificial animals ahead of Eid-ul-Azha

According to an official, animal transport vehicles have now been allowed entry from Thokar Bypass to Babu Sabu Motorway and from Babu Sabu back to Thokar. The decision was made following a request by the Lahore CTO, after which the Inspector General of Motorway Police issued orders to reopen the Thokar Bypass route for livestock vehicles.

Previously, entry of all animal transport vehicles at the Thokar Motorway Bypass had been completely banned.

In an additional move to facilitate citizens, loader rickshaws carrying sacrificial animals have also been permitted to use Canal Road.

The CTO said that the closure of the motorway bypass had caused severe traffic pressure on Canal Road and Multan Road due to the movement of livestock vehicles. He added that reopening the bypass for animal transport will significantly reduce traffic congestion for the public.

The relief is expected to benefit commuters traveling via Band Road, Shahdara, Lahore Ring Road, Eastern Bypass, and routes leading to Gujranwala.

“Citizens, especially livestock traders, will now be able to transport animals to homes and cattle markets more conveniently,” said CTO.

Sherazi further revealed that a special traffic management plan has also been formulated to improve traffic flow around Thokar Niaz Baig.
