Traffic plan issued for Youm-e-Ali (RA) procession

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Mar, 2026) The City Traffic Police Lahore has issued a comprehensive traffic plan for 21st Ramazan Youm-e-Shahadat Hazrat Ali(RA) to ensure smooth flow of traffic and facilitate mourners in the provincial capital.

According to spokesperson,Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore,Dr.Athar Waheed said that the Zarih Mubarak procession will start from Mubarak Haveli inside Akbari Gate and conclude at Karbala Gamay Shah.

He directed traffic officials to keep routes clear for ambulances and emergency vehicles during the procession.

He said seven parking points had been allocated for vehicles of participants of the main procession.

These include parking areas at One Moriya to Masti Gate (Sheranwala Gate) for single-line parking,Haider Saeen and Greater Iqbal Park,Saleem Model High school,Chamberlain road,Brandreth Road and Delhi Gate.

The CTO said SSP Traffic City Zone Maqsood Ahmed was supervising the traffic arrangements.

For the occasion,two SPs,five DSPs, 52 inspectors and 674 wardens,along with lady wardens and traffic assistants had been deployed.

Additionally,16 forklifters and two breakdown vehicles would remain available in the field to manage traffic flow.

He further directed traffic wardens to remain vigilant about suspicious individuals and unattended items along the procession route.

According to the traffic plan,several roads will remain closed or diverted.

Azadi Flyover towards Bhatti Chowk,Katcheri Chowk to Karbala Gamay Shah (Lower Mall Road),Landa Bazaar to Inner Circular road,Milad Chowk to Masjid Wazir Khan via Delhi Gate and Rang Mahal Road from Pani Wala Talab will remain closed for traffic.

Traffic coming from Mall road and Secretariat will be diverted from Katcheri Chowk towards Outfall road and Saggian,while vehicles from Mall road side will be allowed to move towards Kot Street via Istanbul Chowk and PMG Chowk.

Similarly,traffic from Lakshmi Chowk and Mayo Hospital side will not be allowed to proceed towards Shah Alam Chowk via Bansanwala Chowk,while entry of all kinds of traffic to Lower Mall Road from adjoining roads will also be restricted.

Dr.Athar Waheed urged citizens to cooperate with traffic police to ensure smooth arrangements on the occasion. He said people could seek guidance through Emergency Helpline 15,while traffic updates were also being shared through FM Radio 88.6 and the Rasta mobile application.
