Traffic entry banned in Abbottabad markets; dedicated motorcycle parking facility launched

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Mar, 2026) In response to mounting public complaints about congestion in the city’s commercial hubs, the Abbottabad Traffic Police have imposed a ban on the entry of all types of vehicles into the central bazaars of Abbottabad.

SSP Traffic Ishtiaq Khan ordered immediate measures to ease traffic pressure and facilitate pedestrians. Acting on his directives, Inspector Traffic Waseem Khan installed barriers at all major entry points to prevent vehicles from entering the busy market areas.

According to traffic officials, the decision aims to reduce overcrowding, improve pedestrian access, and ensure smoother traffic flow across the city. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with authorities to help maintain order and discipline in commercial zones.

In a related development, and keeping in view the concerns of traders and shoppers, SSP Ishtiaq Khan also directed the establishment of a dedicated motorcycle parking facility. On his instructions, DSP City Circle Siraj Khan, in collaboration with the Abbottabad Cantonment board, launched a formal motorcycle parking area on the ground floor of the newly constructed Cantt Plaza near the Telephone Exchange.

The initiative is intended to shift motorcycles parked haphazardly in the markets to an organized parking space, thereby ensuring smoother movement for visitors and sustaining traffic flow. The Traffic Police have appealed to traders to park their motorcycles only in the designated area to help improve and streamline the city’s traffic management system.
