Traders stage protest against alleged corruption in auqaf department

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Apr, 2026) Tajir Insaf, traders organization of Peshawar here Thursday staged a protest at Chowk Yadgar against alleged corruption in Auqaf Department and demanded action against officials involved in irregularities.

Addressing the camp, President Tajir Insaf, Shahid Khan accused that certain officials of auqaf department are involved in corrupt practices worth millions of rupees. He claimed that some officials are acting in collusion with with tenants.

Speakers alleged that two individuals linked to a market union including an office-bearer of the Mochi Larha Union and two deputy administrators of auqaf department collected money from traders.

They claimed that this corruption has put poor shopkeepers under financial losses amounting to millions to the department and exchequer. They warned that if immediate investigations are not initiated and traders’ issues are not resolved protest would start in entire city.
