Tight security in place for Pak-Australia cricket series in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th May, 2026) Tight security and traffic arrangements were put in place on the second day of the five-day practice session for the Pakistan vs Australia Cricket Series at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Following the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani, Rawalpindi Police deployed more than 3,500 officers to perform security duties during the practice sessions, while over 300 traffic officers were assigned to ensure smooth traffic flow around the stadium and adjoining areas.

Senior police officers remained present in the field to inspect and brief security personnel. Rooftop snipers were also deployed as part of the comprehensive security plan.

According to the police spokesperson, monitoring is being carried out through Safe City and other CCTV cameras, with a separate control room established for surveillance purposes.

Additional police personnel have been deployed at important public places, while special monitoring of bus terminals and hotels is also underway. Police mobiles, Elite Force, and Dolphin Squad teams are continuously patrolling the surroundings of the stadium.

CPO Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani stated that effective traffic management measures have been implemented for the convenience of citizens and foolproof security arrangements are being ensured for the cricket series.
