Three-Member Judicial Commission Formed to Probe law & order in Gilgit-Baltistan

GILGIT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2026) The Government of Gilgit-Baltistan has constituted a three-member judicial commission to investigate

the recent law and order incidents in the region.

A notification in this regard was issued by the Home and Prisons Department.

According to the notification, the decision was taken in a meeting of Gilgit-Baltistan Apex Committee held on

March 3 It was later approved by the caretaker cabinet on March 6.

Justice Malik Inayat-ur-Rehman will serve as the chairperson of the commission.

Justice Johar Ali Khan and Justice Jahanzeb Khan will be its members.

The commission will examine the circumstances that led to the violent protests. It will also review the damage to

public and private property and the loss of human lives.

The notification states that the commission will recommend measures to prevent such incidents in the future. It

may also hold in-camera proceedings if required.

The commission has been directed to complete its inquiry within three weeks of the issuance of the

notification.
