Vessels “Aries” and “Atlantic” delivered 11,000 metric tons and 12,000 metric tons of LPG, respectively, and are now docked at the port

KARACHI: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-March 10th, 2026) Following the recent supply of petroleum products, two ships carrying thousands of tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) have anchored at Port Qasim, with two additional consignments expected to arrive before Eid-ul-Fitr, according to industry sources.

The vessels “Aries” and “Atlantic” delivered 11,000 metric tons and 12,000 metric tons of LPG, respectively, and are now docked at the port.

Meanwhile, ULLSWATER and MD23 are scheduled to bring 3,700 tons and 3,500 tons of LPG, ensuring steady supplies ahead of the festive season.

Irfan Khokhar, chairman of the LPG Distributors Association, said that although the official government price of LPG is Rs225 per kilogram, some sellers have been charging between Rs350 and Rs450 per kilogram, citing the energy crisis triggered by the US-Iran conflict and rising global crude oil prices.

He described this practice as unfair to consumers already burdened by inflation.

Khokhar explained that the uncertain situation in the middle East has pushed global LPG prices up by $200 per ton, while disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have increased shipping freight costs. Despite these challenges, Pakistan currently has ample LPG reserves.

He warned that some distributors were spreading false rumors to encourage panic buying, but added that with the arrival of new shipments and positive signals regarding peace, LPG prices are expected to stabilize in the coming days, providing relief to consumers nationwide.
