LARKANA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) L The Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh, Khair Muhammad Sheikh, said that polio is a deadly disease and that all of us must work together to eradicate it.
The entire machinery of the Sindh government is striving to eliminate this dangerous disease, while PPP MNAs and MPAs are also making full efforts, and the whole Peoples Party is paying close attention to this issue.
He expressed these views while speaking to the media on Monday during the inauguration of the ongoing polio campaign at the Children’s Hospital in Larkana. He said that the campaign will continue from May 18, 2026, to May 21, 2026, during which 402,720 children will be administered polio drops.
He further said that the Sindh government is working day and night for the eradication of polio, and in this regard, various departments including Local Government, Health, Police, Revenue, education, and other institutions are participating in the campaign.
He said that in all union councils of Larkana district, children from newborns up to five years of age will be given polio drops. For this purpose, 1,343 trained health department teams will go door-to-door to administer polio drops to children.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>In addition, ORS, caps, umbrellas, and water have also been provided to polio teams to protect them from the heat and sun.
He added that the only cure for polio is polio drops, therefore people should cooperate with the teams and prove themselves to be responsible and aware parents by protecting their children from permanent disability.
He further said that they would visit every city and village to make the campaign successful. In this regard, Sindh government representative Dr. Muhammad Ali Sheikh has also arrived in Larkana.
On this occasion, District Health Officer Larkana, Dr. Shaukat Hussain Abro, said that this campaign has been launched to make the anti-polio drive successful in Larkana district. He said that their teams would go door-to-door to administer polio drops to children from newborns to five years of age.
He appealed to the public to ensure that their children receive polio drops so they can be protected from permanent disability. He further stated that ORS, caps, and umbrellas have also been provided to polio teams working during the campaign to protect them from the heat.
