ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jun, 2026) In a heartwarming initiative aimed at promoting social inclusion and encouraging children battling serious illnesses, Deputy Commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza on Monday appointed thalassemia-affected girl Muneeba Maqsood as the Honorary Deputy Commissioner of Attock for one day. Muneeba was accompanied by her parents during the special event.
As part of the symbolic gesture, Muneeba took her seat in the Deputy Commissioner’s office, performed ceremonial duties and was briefed on various administrative functions of the district government. The experience offered her a unique opportunity to gain firsthand insight into public administration and governance.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza said that children suffering from thalassemia and other chronic illnesses deserve encouragement, recognition and greater integration into society.

Earlier, the deputy commissioner visited the Thalassemia Center Attock, where he met children undergoing treatment, distributed medicines and inquired about their health. He also received a detailed briefing from medical staff regarding treatment procedures, patients’ conditions and the healthcare facilities available at the center, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to improving support services for thalassemia patients.
