Two drone attacks targeted the US Embassy in Riyadh, causing a small fire and minor damage

Tehran / Riyadh: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-March 3rd, 2026) Tensions in the middle East have sharply escalated as confrontations between Iran, the United States, and Israel intensify.

According to Saudi authorities, two drone attacks targeted the US Embassy in Riyadh, causing a small fire and minor damage.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, warning that any vessel passing through this strategic waterway could be targeted. The Strait of Hormuz is critical, handling nearly one-fifth of global oil shipments.

Israeli forces have continued airstrikes on Tehran and Beirut, including attacks on Iranian state media facilities. The combined death toll in Iran and Lebanon has now exceeded 600.

US President Donald Trump stated that a military campaign against Iran could last up to four weeks, and Washington is committed to taking all measures necessary to neutralize Tehran’s missile and nuclear programs.

Iran has also targeted energy infrastructure in Gulf countries, causing a sharp rise in global oil and gas prices. Qatar’s state-run company QatarEnergy temporarily suspended LNG production at two of its facilities following attacks.

Iranian attacks have extended to Israel, with missile interceptions reported over West Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Eilat. Despite these defensive measures, at least 10 people have been killed in Israel since the start of the week.

The deteriorating situation in the region has raised serious international concern, with urgent calls for intensified diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.
