Teenaged boy drowns in river Sutlej while hunting fish

LODHRAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st May, 2026) A 12-year-old boy drowned into the Sutlej river while hunting fish near Dera Deen Panah in Lodhran district on Friday.

According to the Rescue officials, the incident occurred in the afternoon when the child, identified as Samama Saqib,s/o Saqib Ali resident of Adda Sokar, Yazman (Bahawalpur), went into the river along with his father and grandfather for hunting fish.

Suddenly, he slipped into deep water and drowned.

Upon receiving information, Rescue 1122 teams reached the site and launched a search operation. After nearly two hours of efforts, the body was recovered through a scuba search operation.

A total of 13 rescuers, including a diver and swimmers, took part in the operation, utilizing boats, life jackets, and other rescue equipment.

The body was handed over to the heirs.
