CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th May, 2026) Teachers under the platform of All Government Employees Grand Alliance (AGGA) Punjab on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration outside the District Press Club Chiniot, rejecting the proposed privatization of government schools and pressing for acceptance of their demands.
A large number of male and female teachers from across the district participated in the protest, which was led by representatives of the Punjab Teachers Union. The protesters carried banners and placards highlighting their concerns, including opposition to school privatization, alleged deductions in leave encashment, and suspension of Section 17A-related rules.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>During the demonstration, several symbolic and partial school lock-downs were also observed as a form of protest. Teacher leaders urged the government to withdraw privatization plans for educational institutions and ensure protection of employee rights, stating that rising inflation had severely affected government workers.
The protesters further demanded an immediate increase in salaries in line with inflation and announced that the protest movement would continue until their demands were accepted. Slogans were also raised against the government, calling for urgent resolution of long-standing issues in the education sector.
