Tail-end water supply top priority:Irrigation XEN

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Jun, 2026) Ensuring uninterrupted and equitable water supply to tail-end farmers remains the top priority of the irrigation department, aimed at boosting agricultural productivity,said Executive Engineer (XEN) Irrigation Kirana Division Imam Bakhsh on Thursday.

Talking to media,he said the department was taking all possible measures to improve the canal system and ensure transparent water distribution to strengthen the agricultural economy and facilitate growers across the region.

He said field staff were continuously monitoring canals,distributaries and watercourses to remove obstacles and ensure smooth water flow.

Imam Bakhsh warned that water theft, illegal cuts or interference in the distribution system would not be tolerated,adding that strict legal action would be taken against violators.

He said inspection teams were regularly visiting canal sections to ensure fair distribution, with special focus on providing the due share of water to tail-end farmers.

He added that,in line with Punjab government directives, efforts were underway to ensure timely irrigation through maintenance and repair of water channels.

The XEN urged farmers to use water judiciously and report any illegal activity or theft to the department for prompt action.

He said the irrigation department remained committed to transparent operations and protecting farmers’ interests to enhance agricultural productivity.
