ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jun, 2026) Senior journalist and analyst Syed Kamal Hussain Shah, while talking to APP, said that despite the economic challenges arising from the ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, the Federal government has presented a development-oriented budget aimed at maintaining economic stability and accelerating infrastructure growth across the country.
He observed that the regional situation has exerted pressure on oil prices and contributed to inflationary trends, affecting economies worldwide, including Pakistan. However, he noted that the government is making efforts to mitigate these challenges through strategic development spending and public welfare initiatives.
Syed Kamal Hussain Shah stated that the federal government has allocated Rs 93 billion for transportation and communication projects in the provinces. In addition, Rs 116 billion has been earmarked for flagship national projects, including the Diamer-Bhasha Dam, Dasu Hydropower Project, and Tarbela Dam extension projects, which are expected to strengthen the country’s energy and water resources.

Out of this amount, Rs 56 billion has been specifically reserved for development initiatives in the merged districts of KP, while Rs 34 billion has been allocated for other priority projects in the region.
Discussing major infrastructure schemes, Shah noted that work on projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) continues to receive government support. He added that significant investments are also being made in road infrastructure, including the Karakoram Highway (KKH), as well as small hydropower projects aimed at enhancing energy generation and improving connectivity in remote areas.
He expressed hope that the timely completion of these projects would contribute to economic growth, create employment opportunities, and improve living standards across the country.
