Sukkur IBA, Reko Diq Mining Co Sign MoU to Launch Scholarship Program for Chaghi Students

Sukkur IBA University and Reko Diq Mining Company on Thursday signed an MoU to launch the Reko Diq Scholarship Program 2025, aimed at providing quality higher education to talented youth from District Chaghi, Balochistan

SUKKUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) Sukkur IBA University and Reko Diq Mining Company on Thursday signed an MoU to launch the Reko Diq Scholarship Program 2025, aimed at providing quality higher education to talented youth from District Chaghi, Balochistan.

Briefing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asif Ahmed Shaikh highlighted Sukkur IBA’s growth, academic programs, and national and international standing. He praised the initiative for promoting equal educational opportunities for Balochistan’s deserving students and said the university would strengthen their academic foundations to compete nationwide.

Reko Diq Mining Company General Manager Ryan Mitchell called the partnership “very important,” noting Sukkur IBA’s reputation for academic excellence.

“By working together, we are ensuring students from Chaghi have access to quality education that prepares them for real-world challenges,” he said.

The program focuses on access, inclusivity, and female participation. After outreach in Chaghi in November 2025 and admission tests in December at Nokkundi and Dalbandin, 52 students were enrolled in a six-month Foundation Program at Sukkur IBA. Around 25 will receive fully funded undergraduate scholarships at leading universities across Pakistan.

The MoU reflects a joint commitment to educational inclusion and human capital development in Balochistan by bridging gaps, removing financial barriers, and nurturing future leaders from remote communities.

The ceremony ended with the exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph.
