The University of Sindh and the Sindhi Adabi Board (SAB) on Wednesday agreed to strengthen academic and literary collaboration and work jointly for the promotion of Sindh’s culture, history and heritage through research and publications
HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) The University of Sindh and the Sindhi Adabi Board (SAB) on Wednesday agreed to strengthen academic and literary collaboration and work jointly for the promotion of Sindh’s culture, history and heritage through research and publications.
The understanding was reached during a courtesy meeting between Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Marri (TI) and Sindhi Adabi Board Chairman Makhdoom Saeed Zaman “Atif” at the board’s office.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed future collaboration, exchange of publications and joint efforts to introduce Sindh’s rich civilization, literary heritage and historical importance to a wider audience, particularly through publication of English-language books and research material.
Dr Marri said the University of Sindh would send its 12 published research journals to the SAB chairman for review and placement in the board’s library, describing the exchange of publications as an important step towards strengthening research and scholarship.
He said the research library of the Institute of Sindhology was already serving students and young scholars by providing access to rare and valuable books for study and reference and stressed the need for institutions to work together to preserve and promote Sindh’s intellectual and literary legacy.
The vice-chancellor proposed that the Sindhi Adabi Board publish books in English on Sindh’s culture, history, historical sites and archaeological heritage so that the world could better understand the province’s civilizational richness and cultural depth.
“We have many beautiful cultural and historical sites that should be highlighted through publishing English books by SAB for scholars and researchers across the world,” he said.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Dr Marri also suggested publication of books in Sindhi and English on Jamshoro’s landscape, educational importance, environment and industrial significance to project the city positively before international readers and potential investors.
Referring to Jamshoro’s industrial profile, he said the city housed nearly 300 factories, mills and companies, adding that proper documentation and promotion of its strengths could help attract investment and renewed interest in the area.
He also emphasized the need to document the lives and services of Sindh’s saints, poets, writers, Sufis, musicians and intellectuals in book form so that future generations could benefit from their contributions.
Chairman Makhdoom Saeed Zaman “Atif” welcomed the vice-chancellor’s proposals and agreed to work on the publication of English books in the coming years. He said efforts were already under way to compile profiles of personalities who had rendered valuable services to Sindh.
He directed the board’s staff to ensure regular dispatch of its three literary magazines — Mehran, Gul Phul and Sartiyoon — to the vice-chancellor, the university’s central library and the Institute of Sindhology’s research library.
Mr Atif also accepted Dr Marri’s invitation to visit Sindh University after Yaum-e-Ashura and proposed a joint tree plantation drive on the vacant land near the university gate opposite Jamshoro railway station.Dr Marri welcomed the proposal and said the university would also extend water connections to nearby institutions, including the Sindhi Adabi Board, Sindh Textbook Board, Board of Curriculum and SOS Village, once a new supply connection was secured.
Among others, SU spokesman Dr Nadir Ali Mugheri, Professor Ayaz Ali Wighio and others were also present on the occasion.
