SU Advanced Studies Board okays 18 PhD, 33 MPhil degrees

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Mar, 2026) The 159th meeting of the Advanced Studies & Research board (ASRB) of the University of Sindh was held here on Friday under the chair of Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Fateh Muhammad Mari, which approved 18 PhD and 33 MPhil degrees in various disciplines.

According to the SU spokesperson, 18 PhD degrees were awarded to scholars including Naimatullah Khilji (Art & Design), Jan e Alam Solangi (Media & Communication Studies), Ayaz Ali Jarah (urdu), Muhammad Arif Pathan (Urdu), Aftab Hussain Rajar (business Administration), Amanullah Parhyar (Business Administration), Mehwish Qureshi (Business Administration), Aijaz Ahmed Bhutto (Analytical Chemistry), Abdul Mueed Ghanghro (Fresh Water Biology & Fisheries), Muhammad Zahid Mahmood (Health & Physical education), Muhammad Awais Sajid (Physical Education), Pir Muhammad Abdul Aziz Shah (Physical Education), Shamshad Ali Talpur (Zoology), Sabit Ali Nangraj (Pharmacy Practice), Rao Mehboob Tahir (International Relations), Asim Abbas (Political Science), Ameer Bakhish Mahar (Sociology) and Rahim Dad Rind (Sociology).

While, 33 MPhil degrees were also awarded in different disciplines to candidates. Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Fateh Mari said that the university was committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence and research quality.

"We have implemented a rigorous evaluation process to ensure that every thesis meets international benchmarks before approval," he said.

"The working modus operandi of the ASRB has been streamlined to facilitate scholars while maintaining zero tolerance for plagiarism or substandard research," Dr. Mari said and added that his focus was on producing research that addressed societal challenges and contributed to the socio-economic development of the region..

"The university is investing in modern laboratory facilities and digital libraries to support cutting-edge research across disciplines," he said.

The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the degree recipients and urged them to "serve as ambassadors of knowledge and contribute meaningfully to academia and society."
