Student found dead in Islamia College hostel, investigation underway

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Jun, 2026) A suspected suicide case involving a student at the tribal hostel of Islamia College Peshawar has caused concern among students and the academic community.

According to police on Sunday the incident occurred in Room No. 29 of the Tribal Hostel, where second-year student Zahid Afridi was found dead. His body was shifted to a hospital for a post-mortem examination, while police launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Initial reports suggest that the student may have taken his own life; however, the exact cause of death has not yet been determined.

Police said that Zahid Afridi belonged to Darra Adam Khel in

Kohat District and was studying at Islamia College Peshawar.

Sources described him as an active athlete who was well known in sports activities.

Following the report of the incident, police and relevant authorities reached the scene, collected evidence and transferred the body for legal formalities and a post-mortem examination.

Investigators are examining all aspects of the case and are gathering information from fellow students and other relevant individuals to determine the actual circumstances behind the student's death.
