Strict security arrangements to be made for mosques, imambargahs

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Feb, 2026) The district administration has taken an important decision to protect mosques and imambargahs in view of security concerns.

The administration has announced that arms licenses will be issued to all religious places of worship so that security arrangements can be made more effective and the ability to deal with any untoward incident can be improved.

The arms license will not be issued in the name of any scholar or individual but will be issued in the name of the mosque committee.

The arms licenses of mosques running under the Auqaf Department will be issued in the name of the Auqaf and Mosque Council.

Mosques will submit an application to the district administration through their committee, which will be scrutinized.

After the scrutiny, police will inspect the mosque and assess the need for a weapon license. How many weapon licenses will be issued to which mosque?, this decision will be based on the police report.
