Strict action ordered against profiteering in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Feb, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema chaired a meeting of price magistrates on Friday reviewing commodity prices, the ongoing price checking campaign and action against profiteers across the district.

Addressing the meeting, DC Cheema directed that the official price lists issued by the Punjab Government must be strictly enforced and no shopkeeper should be allowed to charge arbitrary rates. He said providing relief to citizens during the Holy Month of Ramazan was the top priority and instructed magistrates to remain active in the field and ensure daily inspections.

The officials briefed the meeting that thousands of inspections had been carried out in recent days with heavy fines imposed on violators, several cases registered and a number of shops sealed.

The deputy commissioner made clear that profiteering, hoarding and failure to display official price lists would be dealt with indiscriminately. He reaffirmed that the district administration was utilising all resources to provide relief to the public and would further strengthen the price control mechanism. He directed the magistrates to improve their performance and submit daily reports.
