Strengthened sanitation drive directed to make Rawalpindi clean, pollution-free

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Mar, 2026) An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema on Friday to review measures for making Rawalpindi a clean, beautiful and pollution-free city and to ensure effective implementation of the Punjab Government’s ongoing ‘Suthra Punjab’ campaign.

The meeting was attended by all assistant commissioners of the district and officers from relevant departments.

It reviewed arrangements for sanitation across the city and surrounding areas, improving waste management systems, timely disposal of garbage and steps to mitigate environmental pollution.

During the session, the deputy commissioner was briefed on ongoing activities under the ‘Suthra Punjab’ campaign and sanitation efforts in various localities. Dr Cheema directed that the district’s sanitation system be further strengthened and high standards of cleanliness be ensured in both urban and rural areas.

He instructed the assistant commissioners to regularly monitor sanitation in their respective areas and maintain full coordination with relevant agencies to ensure timely disposal of garbage. He emphasised that making Rawalpindi a clean, beautiful and pollution-free city was a top priority for the district administration and called for all departments to work in close cooperation to achieve the objective.

The deputy commissioner also stressed the importance of public awareness campaigns to encourage citizens to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings. The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue the ‘Suthra Punjab’ campaign in full spirit and to utilise all available resources to make Rawalpindi a model city.
