SUKKUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) A consultative seminar on the Development Master Plan for Rohri was held at the DC Office conference hall on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC), Nadir Shehzad Khan.

The seminar, organized by the Planning and Development Department, Government of Sindh, was aimed to gather

input for a comprehensive, long-term plan to guide Rohri’s urban growth and improve basic civic services.

Addressing participants, DC Nadir Shehzad Khan said Rohri’s historical significance made a long-term master plan essential for managing urban development, drinking water supply, sewerage, education, health, and other municipal services.

He directed all relevant departments to submit feedback and recommendations for inclusion in the final plan.

Ali Murad Abro, Assistant Director, Urban and Regional Policy and Strategic Planning, said the objective was to

obtain stakeholder suggestions to ensure the plan reflects local needs and priorities. He stressed sustainable

urban development, clear objectives, stakeholder participation, and strategies to meet future challenges.

The preliminary draft presented at the seminar outlines a long-term vision, economic development strategies,

disaster management measures, urban action plans, and an implementation framework. It seeks to address housing, water supply, drainage and environmental protection while promoting employment and regional economic growth.

Officials in attendance included Additional Deputy Commissioner Tanveer Ahmed Khattak, Assistant Commissioner Ghulam Murtaza and Assistant Director Planning and Development Muhammad Soomar Mallah, along with representatives from various departments.

Participants appreciated the Planning and Development Department’s initiative and agreed that suggestions from the consultative process would be incorporated into the final draft before it is submitted to the cabinet for approval.

Asian Development Bank consultant Ahsan Iqbal also briefed participants on technical aspects of the plan during the session.
