SSP Saud leads CTD, SWAT deployment for central 9th Muharram procession

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Saud Khan on Thursday led the deployment of CTD and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) commandos of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police to secure the central 9th Muharram procession in Sector G-6.

An official told APP on Thursday that SSP Saud Khan remained present in the field along with CTD and Swat personnel to personally supervise security arrangements and monitor operational preparedness throughout the procession.

The official said CTD and SWAT teams had been deployed at key points along the procession route to ensure a swift response to any emergency and provide a secure environment for mourners.

According to the official, the elite personnel were performing their duties with vigilance, professionalism and dedication as part of the comprehensive security plan devised for Muharram-ul-Haram.

Saud Khan directed the deployed personnel to remain alert, maintain close coordination with other law enforcement agencies and respond promptly to any untoward situation.

The official said the deployment of CTD and SWAT teams formed an integral part of Islamabad Police's multi-layered security strategy aimed at ensuring the peaceful conduct of the central 9th Muharram procession.
