Sports equipment provided to inmates

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) In line with the 'Khelta Punjab vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, efforts have begun across Punjab to encourage healthy and constructive activities among prison inmates by providing sports facilities in jails.

As part of this initiative, District Sports Officer Multan Adnan Naeem visited the District Jail and handed over various sports equipment to Superintendent District Jail Multan, Amir Umar Qureshi. Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Ali was also present on the occasion.

Speaking at the event, Adnan Naeem stated that the District Sports Department Multan has always played a leading role in providing sports facilities and promoting athletic activities.

He emphasized that the department’s core mission is to enable every segment of society to benefit from sports and contribute to building a healthy community.

Superintendent Amir Umar Qureshi expressed gratitude to the Sports Department for providing sports equipment for inmates. He noted that access to sports will encourage prisoners to engage in positive activities, improve their physical and mental well-being, and help them reintegrate into society as responsible citizens after their release.

Authorities believe that promoting sports within prisons will foster discipline, teamwork, and a constructive mindset among inmates.
