Special training session held to strengthen murder case prosecution

BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2026) In line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif titled “Justice for All”, and on the directives of the secretary, Public Prosecution Department Punjab, a special training session was organised for prosecutors and police officers dealing with cases of murder, rape, sexual assault, and narcotics.

As part of a series of capacity-building programmes, the latest session focused specifically on the effective investigation and prosecution of murder cases. Prosecutors from the Bahawalpur district and police officers assigned to homicide investigations participated in the training.

The speakers highlighted common investigative mistakes frequently observed in murder cases and provided a detailed analysis of the reasons why accused individuals are often acquitted based on the benefit of the doubt. The interactive session allowed participants to raise questions and discuss practical challenges faced during investigations and trial proceedings.

Legal experts Advocate Supreme Court Umair Mohsin and Malik Aleem Akhtar delivered comprehensive lectures on strengthening evidence collection, case preparation, and courtroom presentation to improve conviction rates. At the conclusion of the course, participants appreciated the initiative of the Chief Minister and the Secretary of Public Prosecution, expressing confidence that such training programs would significantly enhance the standards of investigation and prosecution. They noted that improved professional capacity would lead to appropriate convictions, thereby contributing to law and order and societal progress.

On this occasion, District Public Prosecutor Nadeem Iqbal Khakwani stated that such training sessions would help improve the quality and performance of criminal case management and ensure that offenders are brought to justice. He added that the session reaffirmed the department’s commitment to strengthening the legal system and ensuring justice for all.
