Special Eid cleanliness drive launched in Gujrat

GUJRAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) A special training session for sanitary supervisors and inspectors was organised under the Suthra Punjab Programme to ensure effective cleanliness arrangements during Eid-ul-Azha in Gujrat.

According to official sources, the participants were briefed on timely disposal of sacrificial waste, immediate sanitation measures and maintenance of cleanliness across the city during Eid holidays.

The staff was informed about the special Eid cleanliness plan, including deployment of additional workforce, machinery and equipment for the operation.

Assistant Commissioner Gujrat Abdul Qadeer Zarkoon, who attended the session as chief guest, said that 95 additional sanitation workers and 292 extra machines and equipment had been allocated for the Eid operation.

He said plastic bags were being distributed for safe disposal of animal waste while a public awareness campaign was also underway.

The assistant commissioner said that 66 facilitation camps would be established across the district, including at five cattle markets, five municipal committee areas and 56 union councils, to provide awareness, distribute plastic bags and facilitate complaint registration and redressal.

He directed all relevant departments to ensure coordinated and effective sanitation arrangements to provide citizens with a clean environment during Eid-ul-Azha.
