Speaker of Australian House of Representatives commends Pakistan's mediatory role between Iran, US

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th May, 2026) Pakistan's High Commissioner to Austrailia Irfan Shaukat, on Thursday called on Milton Dick, Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives in Camberra and discussed matters related to mutual interests.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. They also discussed ways to further broaden bilateral relations across diverse areas of cooperation.

The High Commissioner appreciated Australia’s continued engagement in advancing shared objectives, including bilateral economic cooperation, people-to-people contacts, and promotion of peace and security in the region and beyond.

He underscored Pakistan’s commitment to promote peace, stability, and constructive engagement at the regional and global levels.

Speaker Milton Dick commended Pakistan’s facilitative and mediatory role between Iran and the United States.

He emphasised the importance of further strengthening the existing friendly relations between the countries through enhanced inter- parliamentary exchanges. He also appreciated the valuable contribution of Pakistani diaspora in Australia.
