Southern Balochistan road projects reviewed to boost regional connectivity

QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jun, 2026) Secretary Communications and Works Babar Khan has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to integrating the remote and underdeveloped areas of southern Balochistan into the national development mainstream.

He emphasized that improving road infrastructure is essential for sustainable growth and prosperity in the region.

Chairing a high-level meeting to review progress on road projects under the Southern Balochistan Development Package, Babar Khan noted that modern and quality road networks are vital not only for easing travel for local communities but also for promoting trade, investment, and economic activity across the province.

The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer Federal Projects Dr. Sajjad Baloch, Project Director Colonel (R) Jamal Ahmed of the Frontier Works Organization, representatives from NESPAK, and senior officials from relevant departments.

Participants received detailed briefings on the status of ongoing road schemes, technical challenges, construction standards, and administrative matters. They were also updated on project completion stages and future plans.

Babar Khan directed officials to resolve all technical and administrative hurdles on a priority basis to ensure timely completion of projects. He stressed that no compromise should be made on construction quality, urging authorities to accelerate work so that the public can benefit from improved infrastructure at the earliest.

Highlighting the vast and remote geography of southern Balochistan, he said that better road connectivity will not only provide convenience to residents but also create opportunities for commerce and investment, ultimately strengthening the provincial economy.
