Snapchat has rolled out a new Spotify powered feature that allows users worldwide to share the songs they are listening to in real time on Snap Map, giving friends an easier way to discover music while keeping full control over privacy settings.
The new feature is called “Now Playing” and is built into Snapchat’s existing Snap Map. It is designed to make the map more personal while helping users discover new music through their friends’ playlists and daily listening habits.
This can be done through profile settings or directly from the Snap Map. Once the accounts are linked, Snapchat automatically displays the song currently playing on Spotify to the audience selected by the user.
The company said the feature makes it easier for friends to discover artists and songs without leaving the Snapchat app. If users notice a friend listening to an interesting track, they can tap the song to view short videos using the same audio. They can also save the track directly to their Spotify Liked Songs list with just a few taps.
Snapchat said the goal is to make music sharing more interactive while encouraging users to connect through their favorite songs. The feature combines social networking with music discovery, creating a smoother experience for users who already spend time on both platforms.
Privacy remains a key part of the update. Snapchat has added several settings that allow users to decide who can see their music activity. People can share their current songs with all mutual friends, limit access to only those who already see their live location, choose selected contacts or hide their listening status completely.
Music has become an important part of online communication, and social media platforms continue adding tools that make sharing entertainment easier.
