Sindh home minister to visit Rohri on 9th Muharram

Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar will visit Rohri town on Thursday, 25 June, corresponding to 9th Muharram-ul-Haram, to attend the traditional Shama-e-Gul procession and review security arrangements for the holy month

SUKKUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar will visit Rohri town on Thursday, 25 June, corresponding to 9th Muharram-ul-Haram, to attend the traditional Shama-e-Gul procession and review security arrangements for the holy month.

According to the schedule, the minister will reach the procession venue between 2:00pm and 3:00pm. During the visit, he will meet with organizers of the procession, mourners, and local administration officials to assess the overall arrangements.

Minister Lanjar is expected to inspect security deployments along the route of the Shama-e-Gul procession, including police pickets, CCTV monitoring, entry/exit points, and crowd management measures.

He will also review facilities being provided to mourners, such as medical camps, drinking water, sanitation, lighting, and traffic management.

Senior officers of Sukkur Police, district administration, and other law enforcement agencies will accompany the minister during the inspection. The Home Minister is likely to issue directives to ensure foolproof security and uninterrupted provision of services to mourners throughout 9th and 10th Muharram.

The Shama-e-Gul procession in Rohri is one of the major religious gatherings in Sukkur Division during Muharram, drawing thousands of mourners from surrounding areas.
