Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards Muhammad Ismail Rahu has said that no official involved in harassment cases against female students in universities across Sindh would be spared
HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards Muhammad Ismail Rahu has said that no official involved in harassment cases against female students in universities across Sindh would be spared.
According to a handout issued on Thursday, he expressed these views while talking to media after offering condolences to the brother and uncle of Hafiz Tahir Abbas Zainur, who was martyred in the Bahawalpur incident, at Village Muhammad Ali Zanuar in Tando Muhammad Khan.
The provincial minister said that soldiers of the Pakistan Army demonstrated great courage and effective resistance against Indian aggression during the “Maarka-e-Haq,” adding that the victory had brought international recognition of the armed forces and that proved their bravery and professional capabilities before the world.
Referring to incidents related to female students in universities, he said high-level committees had been formed to investigate harassment cases to ensure such incidents do not recur in educational institutions, calling such incidents a matter of shame for the entire nation.
He said Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, following the vision of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto, had emphasized female education and empowerment in the party manifesto from the beginning of his political career.
He warned that any future misconduct within educational institutions would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against those found involved. He added that legal proceedings against the accused in recent incidents were continuing and no concession would be granted to them.
Ismail Rahu further said that only 10 universities had been established in Sindh during the previous 60 years, whereas 20 universities had been set up during the 17 year tenure of the Pakistan Peoples Party government, along with extensive development schemes aimed at strengthening higher education institutions.
He said the Sindh government was taking all possible measures for the development and prosperity of the province, adding that Sindh chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah was carrying out development projects not only in Karachi but across the province from Karachi to Kashmore-Kandhkot in the sectors of roads, education, healthcare, clean drinking water and other basic facilities.
Later, the provincial minister also attended a reception hosted by PPP district president and MPA Syed Aijaz Hussain Shah Bukhari in Tando Muhammad Khan.
PPP youth leader Syed Salal Shah Bukhari, Municipal Chairman Syed Shahnawaz Shah, Syed Shaban Shah and Deputy Commissioner Dharmoon Bhawani were also present on the occasion.
