SIALKOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2026) Chairman Surgical Instruments Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (SIMAP) Zeshan Tariq expressed its sincere appreciation to the Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, for his timely intervention in protecting the interests of existing solar energy consumers by allowing them to continue under the previously approved net metering mechanism.
In a press release, Chairman SIMAP Zeshan Tariq said that the government and the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) have now permitted the existing solar consumers to retain their current net metering agreements until the expiry of their contractual terms. This step ensures that the industries that invested in solar energy based on the earlier policy framework remain protected.
He added that the SIMAP acknowledges this decision as a positive reflection of the government's commitment to promoting renewable energy adoption, and safeguarding businesses that have made substantial investments in good faith under national energy policies.
SIMAP respectfully urged the government to continue its efforts to ensure the availability of reliable and competitively priced energy, as a successful and thriving export sector depends heavily on consistent access to energy within a competitive range to operate effectively in global markets, he further added.
