SHCC initiates inquiry into death of female patient at Darul Sehat Hospital

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jul, 2026) The Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) has initiated formal inquiry on Thursday into the alleged death of a female patient during treatment at Darul Sehat Hospital.

The police had written letter to the SHCC to investigate the incident, as the SHCC has the sole mandate for looking into such maters under the law.

As part of the inquiry, SHCC team would visit the hospital for an inspection. After reviewing all the available information, the team would take the relevant medical records into its custody. An expert panel would then be formed, consisting of specialists from the relevant medical field, said a press release issued by the SHCC.

Once the panel was formed, formal hearings would begin. Both parties would be called to present their side of the case. This process would take some time. After the inquiry and hearings would be completed, the Commission's decision would be shared with both parties in writing.

These investigations and decisions were based on medical and technical evidence. The expert panel would be formed after reviewing the facts provided by the police investigation officer. The Commission would also ask the hospital to submit its report so that the appropriate medical experts could be included in the panel.

The inquiry would continue through all the required stages before a final decision.
