Sharjeel directs police, administration for action against transporters charging excessive fare before Eidul Fitr

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Mar, 2026) Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Saturday directed the launch of a campaign against transporters, who are overcharging in terms of fares on the occasion of Eidul Fitr.

He issued instructions to the police, district administrations, NHA, traffic authorities, transport department and all other relevant authorities to take action.

Memon said that certain transporters arbitrarily increase fares, which places an additional financial burden on passengers. L

He said that provision of maximum relief to the public and preventing unauthorized fare increases is the fundamental responsibility of the relevant institutions.

The Senior Minister for Transport said that all officers have been directed to take immediate action within their respective jurisdictions against transporters charging excessive fares.

He said that reports of daily operations should be submitted to the department on a daily basis.

Memon directed to ensure safe and convenient travel for passengers at government-approved fares is the government’s top priority.

He said that all relevant institutions should remain active in the field and ensure immediate resolution to public complaints.
