FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Mar, 2026) As many as 32 deserving female students have received sewing machines after successfully completing dress-making training at Sarwari Rafiq Handicraft School.
In this connection, a distribution ceremony was organized by Social Welfare Society Marzi Pura here on Thursday and the prominent philanthropist and social figure Hajji Iftikhar Ahmad Ansari attended it as chief guest while Society President Hajji Riaz Ahmad Ansari presided over the event.
Speaking on the occasion, General Secretary Muhammad Arshad Qasmi said that this was the third time when sewing machines had been distributed among students through the platform of Sarwari Rafiq Handicraft School in Marzi Pura. Earlier, 39 students had also received sewing machines after completing their vocational training, he added.
He said that equipping women with professional skills was the key to social development and national progress. He said that financial assistance might provide temporary relief but the skill development created lasting impact by enabling individuals to earn sustainable livelihoods. The provision of a sewing machine could transform economic condition of a household as a family could gradually overcome poverty through dedication and hard work once a basic earning tool became available, he added.
Muhammad Arshad Qasmi said that the society was striving to establish handicraft schools in every locality so that unemployment and poverty could be reduced through practical vocational education, particularly for women.
Hajji Riaz Ahmad Ansari said that Social Welfare Society had been playing a historic role in empowering women through skills development for the past 65 years. Thousands of trained women were now earning livelihoods from home by running beauty parlors and dress-making businesses, he added.
Hajji Iftikhar Ahmad Ansari urged the students to remain committed to hard work and discipline, saying that people who consistently strove and complete their tasks on time continued to move forward in life and achieve success.
School Principal Hafiza Saba Tabassum said that Social Welfare Society enjoyed the distinction that several other institutions in the city were now training their students under the guidance of its experienced instructors.
She said that female students of Government Vocational Institute were also undergoing internships at the society’s handicraft school to further polish and enhance their professional skills.
A large number of students along with community members participated in the ceremony.
