MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Jun, 2026) Acting on the directives of Punjab Food Authority Director General Syed Musa Raza, food safety teams carried out extensive inspections of soda water plants, snack manufacturing units, bakeries, restaurants, and other food outlets across the Multan division to safeguard public health.
During the enforcement campaign, the teams disposed of 160 litres of substandard soda water and 20 kilograms of prohibited and expired food ingredients. Several food businesses were also penalized for violating food safety regulations.
In Multan, a papad manufacturing unit near the Kidney Centre on Muzaffargarh road was fined Rs40,000 for using unfiltered water and failing to keep food ingredients properly covered. Two bakeries located at Allah Akbar colony, WAPDA Chowk, and Bahadurpur, Jalalpur Pirwala, were each fined Rs20,000 for unhygienic storage of sweets, using unsafe water, storing food on dirty floors, and maintaining poor production conditions, including the presence of birds in the processing area.
A milk shop at Bahawalpur Bypass Chowk was fined Rs20,000 after milk quality failed to meet the required standards.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>A local snacks unit in Allah Wasaya Chowk, Peoples Colony, received a Rs25,000 fine for poor sanitation and improper flour storage, while a bakery production unit in Shah Town Phase-I on Usman Ghani road was fined Rs35,000 for unhygienic production conditions, failure to provide a water analysis report, and poorly maintained machinery.
In Khanewal, three soda water plants located in Mohalla Faizabad, Basti Hussainabad, and Mohalla Eid Gah, Abdul Hakeem, were collectively fined Rs34,000 for preparing soda water with substandard and prohibited ingredients. A bakery in Bilal Colony, Sabzi Mandi, was fined Rs30,000 for keeping expired food items and using broken eggs in food preparation, while a grinding unit in Block No. 10 was fined Rs15,000 for maintaining a washroom within the food storage area.
In Vehari, two soda water plants in Masoom Shah Road, Burewala, and Karam Pur were each fined Rs15,000 for using artificial and unauthorized ingredients in beverage production.
