HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) A grand ceremony for the distribution of free pink electric scooters among female students and working women was held here on Saturday with the Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon handing over 200 vehicles to the beneficiaries.Speaking on the occasion, the minister said no political affiliation, party, or linguistic identity was being considered in the distribution of those scooters.

He added that in line with the vision of the leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party, especially Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, major public welfare projects were underway, including the construction of 2.1 million houses and the transfer of their ownership to women.

Memon said the Sindh Government was also making significant progress in the health sector, where advanced healthcare facilities were being provided to the public for free.

The minister referred to the Federal government's request for assistance to Sindh for setting up centers for autistic children as the latter had established 10 such centers in the province.

He observed that major projects such as Shahrah-e-Bhutto in Karachi had been completed under public-private partnership, which had received national and international appreciation. He recalled that when the Pink Scooty scheme was launched, the number of women holding motorbike driving licenses in Sindh was negligible.

However, he pointed out, presently thousands of women were applying for driving licenses, which also reflected a positive social change.

Memon clarified that those scooties were strictly for use of women riders, warning that if any man was found riding those vehicles strict action would be taken. According to the minister, the scooties given by the provincial government to women could not be sold for a period of 7 years. The ceremony was also attended by MPA Imdad Pitafi, Deputy Mayor Sagheer Qureshi, MD SMTA Salimullah Odho, DIG Hyderabad, DC and SSP Hyderabad.
