Senior journalist's son shot dead

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jul, 2026) A 16-year-old boy was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Lahore's Harbanspura area on Tuesday while travelling on a motorcycle with his father.

According to police, the victim, identified as Saad Iqbal, son of Daily Jang news Editor Iqbal Nadeem, was riding a motorcycle with his father when armed men intercepted them near the Press Club Housing Society and opened fire before fleeing the scene.

The teenager sustained critical gunshot injuries and died on the spot, while police shifted the body to Mayo Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari reached the crime scene, met police officials and directed them to ensure immediate action for the arrest of those involved in the incident.

Police cordoned off the area soon after the attack, while forensic experts collected evidence, including spent bullet casings and other material from the scene.

Authorities said an investigation had been launched to ascertain the motive behind the killing and trace the unidentified assailants.
