Senate Secretariat rejects media reports on vehicle purchase for Chairman

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Mar, 2026) The Senate Secretariat has dismissed certain media reports regarding the purchase of a vehicle (Land Cruiser)

for the Chairman of the Senate, describing them as misleading and inconsistent with the facts.

A spokesperson for the Secretariat clarified that the vehicle was part of a comprehensive fleet replacement plan

carried out transparently in May 2025, during the 2024–25 financial year.

The plan also included the replacement of vehicles assigned to the Chairpersons of standing committees, the Deputy Chairman of the Senate, the Leader of the House, the Leader of the Opposition, and the Senate Secretariat itself.

The spokesperson added that payment for the vehicle was made in May 2025 from the previous financial year’s budget, while the delivery of the vehicle took place in March 2026.

The Senate Secretariat strongly rejected the circulating speculation and urged news organisations to exercise

responsibility, maintain professional integrity, and thoroughly verify facts when reporting on matters concerning

state institutions.
