Allama Raja Nasir Abbas says lawmakers had staged the protest to demand access for Imran Khan’s personal physicians
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Feb 18th, 2026) Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Allama Raja Nasir Abbas on Wednesday announced the end of the opposition’s sit-in inside Parliament, stating that the protest was aimed at highlighting concerns regarding the health of former prime minister Imran Khan.
Addressing the media in Islamabad, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said lawmakers had staged the protest to demand access for Imran Khan’s personal physicians. He said the matter had now been taken to court, reiterating that their Primary demand was to allow private doctors to examine the incarcerated PTI founder.
The opposition leader criticized the restrictions imposed during the demonstration, alleging that members faced obstacles while moving within and outside Parliament. He claimed that several limitations were placed on lawmakers during the protest.
Referring to recent reports about Imran Khan’s eyesight, Abbas said concerns over his health had intensified after media coverage of the issue. He added that senior politician Mahmood Khan Achakzai had even proposed a hunger strike to press for medical access.
Raja Nasir Abbas further stated that the concerns expressed by Imran Khan’s sisters were understandable and called for authorities to allow them to meet him. He expressed hope for improvement in Khan’s condition and suggested that he be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for a comprehensive medical evaluation.
He confirmed that, following the legal proceedings and assurances sought through the courts, the opposition had decided to call off the parliamentary sit-in.
