Seminar, panel discussion on enhancing research capacity’ held

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) Government College Women University (GCWU) Faisalabad organized a day-long seminar for faculty on the Role of ORICs in Advancing Research, Innovation, and Commercialization.

The event aimed to familiarize them with contemporary research frameworks, ranking criteria, and KPIs.

The keynote speaker, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Raza Bilal, Director ORIC, University of Sargodha, highlighted the role of ORIC in facilitating research grants and improving performance indicators.

Emphasizing the importance of patents, research funding, and effective proposal writing, he also shared strategies for documenting research outputs across various platforms.

Moreover, the university and faculty KPIs were also discussed.

Addressing the faculty, the Vice Chancellor reiterated that progress in research and rankings depends on the faculty’s professional commitment and ownership of the university.

She added that, as women, they can achieve their professional targets through better time management.

She appreciated Director ORIC Dr. Hira and her team's efforts and termed such initiatives vital to faculty development and institutional growth. A panel discussion followed, focusing on strengthening academia–industry linkages and promoting research commercialization through ORIC.
