Seminar on Islamic perspective of resilience held at UoG

GUJRAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Apr, 2026) The Department of Sociology at the University of Gujrat (UoG) organized a seminar titled “Social Resilience and Youth Engagement in the Light of Islam” at Hafiz Hayat Campus.

According to official sources, the seminar was part of a series of activities under government directives to prevent violent extremism.

The seminar aimed to create awareness among students about inner strength, participation in positive activities and the importance of Islamic teachings to address modern social challenges, particularly extremism.

Dr Ali Naseem was the guest speaker, while Chairperson Dr Muhammad Shoaib presided over the event. In his address, Dr Naseem highlighted the concept of patience and steadfastness (sabr and istiqamat) and the constructive role of youth in society.

He said that patience and consistency are key Islamic values that help individuals face challenges and remain on the right path. He also urged students to promote peace, tolerance and social harmony.

Dr Muhammad Shoaib and Dr Zaheer Abbas also spoke on the occasion and emphasized the role of education, critical thinking and community participation in building resilience among youth.

A large number of students and teachers attended the seminar. At the end, Dr Muhammad Shoaib presented a commemorative shield to the guest speaker and reiterated the commitment to continue such academic activities in future.
